audrey fretz: thank you! hopefully they turn out to be good recommendations.

vivi: thank you for your kind words. i get what you mean about the premise of melancholia - it is quite strange and slightly unbelievable. the cinematography and music definitely did it for me. happy new year to you!

  1. I love confetti system! Oh Danica, sometimes I wonder about you. At times I feel you are a Southern Hemisphere version of myself.

The sentiment on simplicity is apt. It is my aim this year to K-I-S-S. Or as one of my old teacher's always used to yell at us, 'KEEP IT SIMPLE, STUPID!'. I aim to live simply, slower and more fully. Too much multi-tasking and burden makes life unnecessarily complex.

After all, when I look back over life the most fulfilling moments have always employed the most simplest of ingredients.

  6. I'm glad you liked Almodovar's film. I loved it as well. It takes a special kind of person to admire his screwed up yet genius style, don't you agree? What does this say about us?...ha, ha. Lovely post as always.

  16. Hello! I came across your blog only today and spent a couple of hours on it reading all the archive! It's nice to read about french culture from the viewpoint of a smitten foreigner. I'm french and in love with anglo-saxon culture, and I tend to forget what's cool about my country and how great the nouvelle vague was, for instance. Too bad so many french women don't dress too well these days, especially in a small town like mine. Anyway, bravo ! Je vais suivre ton blog maintenant !

    1. Hehe - I am indeed a smitten foreigner. I must admit that I have a very romanticised view of French culture, so I am pleased to have a French reader who sees the merit in what I post.

  18. Just wanted to let you know that its always a pleasure & a good moment to read your words (comments you sometimes leave on Bonjour Johanna and also your blog posts).
Often I would like to write you comments, so much to say... Things you share here are often things for which I also have some interest, like the post in which you wrote about books and printed medias, I remember having left a pretty long comment there...Well, on almost every of your post my comment would be (if days would be have more hours) as long as that one. Sadly I don't have enough time to write those words, but I read you & wish that one day somewhere we will meet and talk.

I wish you a nice week and even if it's soon February best wishes for the 11 other months of 2012,
    xxx
